"You Don't Mess Around with Jim" was the title track of Jim Croce's 1972 album (which also included "Time in a Bottle"). Shortly after its debut, The Country Trio (which included its own Jim) performed the song on The Perry Como Winter Show. The song describes the impressive poolshark Big Jim Walker, and implies that messing with him is as dangerous as tangling with Superman or the Lone Ranger.
