"You're the Top" was performed by Kermit the Frog and Ethel Merman as part of a medley in episode 122 of The Muppet Show.

Although the song, which Merman first popularized in the musical Anything Goes, is supposed to be composed entirely of compliments, both Kermit and Ethel become suspect when Kermit dubs his guest star "the Coliseum" and she calls him Mickey Mouse. When Kermit asks "Is that supposed to be a compliment?" Merman retorts "Well you just called me a Coliseum."

Additional lyrics involve comparisons to the Mona Lisa, a Shakespeare sonnet, a Berlin ballad, a Waldorf salad, and Fred Astaire's feet.

Elmo and Nettie the Yeti perform a spoof of the song in the Elmo the Musical segment, "Mountain Climber the Musical" called "You're at the Top".
