"Workin' at the Car Wash Blues" was performed by Gonzo in a car with a bunch of chickens in episode 507 of The Muppet Show.
The song was written and recorded by Jim Croce; he died in a plane crash one day before its album was released in 1973, and thus never had a chance to see it become a hit.
