William Hanna (1910-2001) was an acclaimed director and producer for the many animated film and television productions released with partner Joseph Barbera. For decades, Hanna-Barbera dominated television cartoons, and prior to that, the team created Tom and Jerry. Hanna served primarily as a storyman, and even contributed lyrics to the theme songs for The Flintstones and others.

Along with Barbera, Hanna served as executive producer of the The Flintstones and The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas, both of which used Jim Henson's Creature Shop for effects. Hanna appeared on-camera in both, as an angry boardroom executive in The Flintstones and a brief appearance with Barbera in Viva Rock Vegas.

Along with Jim Henson, both Hanna and Barbera have been commemorated by The Television Academy Hall of Fame.
