"What's in the Mail Today?" was first heard in the first season Bear in the Big Blue House episode "What's in the Mail, Today?"
A shortened version of the song is sometimes heard in later episodes when Bear gets his mail. The album version contains additional lyrics and a backup choir.
The song was also featured in the stage show Bear in the Big Blue House Live: Surprise Party.
