Wendy Wasserstein (1950-2006) was an American playwright. A Tony award and Pulitzer Prize winner for her play The Heidi Chronicles, she contributed to My Favorite Sesame Street Moments before Episode 4067 of Sesame Street.

On Broadway, Wasserstein had a hit not only with The Heidi Chronicles, but also with The Sisters Rosensweig (starring Madeline Kahn and Robert Klein).

Not known as an actress, she provided vocals as a guest caller on Frasier and appeared in Life with Mikey (with Nathan Lane and Michael J. Fox).

Aside from the stage, Wasserstein also wrote for the screen, including The Object of My Affection (with Paul Rudd), and authored five books.

Wasserstein passed away from lymphoma in January of 2006, and was honored with Broadway's lights being dimmed in her honor.
