Vinburnham

Vin Burnham (full name Vinilla Burnham) is a costume and puppet designer who worked as a free-lance contributor to several Creature Shop projects in the 80s and 90s. The daughter of actor Edward Burnham (who guest starred on two Doctor Who serials, amongst other assignments), Burnham began her career as a propmaker for the Royal Opera House during Rudolf Nureyev's tenure, and created head dresses for Swan Lake and mice for The Nutcracker. Her early film credits as a costumer included Monty Python's The Meaning of Life, Time Bandits, and Brazil.

For the Creature Shop, she worked on the Skeksis unit on The Dark Crystal and the riding goblins in Labyrinth. Shortly thereafter, she worked on perhaps her most high profile assignment, creating the Batsuit for Tim Burton's Batman, and subsequently costumed the Penguin and Catwoman for Batman Returns.

In 1991, reflecting her suit expertise, she designed the Super Shredder for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze. She later served as creature effects consultant on The Neverending Story III, and was the space costume designer for Lost in Space, creating form-fitting, figure accentuating suits for the travelers. Her other credits include creating Aslan the lion for the BBC adaptations of C. S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia.
