Velvet is a purple curtain that appears in the recurring Sesame Street segment, "Elmo the Musical," going on the musical adventures Elmo imagines. She helps change the scenery when Elmo needs to get somewhere and lowers herself over the scene when something she finds sad or dangerous happens. She also possesses two sets of golden tassels which act as pseudo-arms and hands for her.

She also appears in the Sesame Street Live show, Can't Stop Singing.
