Any Worldly Idea?

Stumbled on this today. You are worldly. Any idea of a translation? I know part of it says The Muppet Show, but that is all picture in question. -- Nate (talk) 21:06, October 7, 2009 (UTC)

Hmm. It might be a live Muppet event, but why is Cookie Monster there with Muppet Show characters? Maybe it was an unauthorized event. I wish I could read Russian. Maybe Danny can put it on Twitter and see if anybody speaks Russian. -- Ken (talk) 01:52, October 8, 2009 (UTC)

Asian Fever

What do you make of this? The seller says it's for Taiwan/China, and he's in Taiwan, but it looks nothing like this Chinese cover. The picture is way too blurry to figure out the label (for me). I'm intrigued at the slight redesign -- every one of these I've ever seen has actually still said "Sesame Street Fever" in English and I've never seen the border like that. -- Wendy (talk) 03:05, October 1, 2009 (UTC)

Okay. From what I remember of my history, back then, Taiwan and China were treated as 2 separate countries. (I'm not sure if they still are; I'll have to read up on that.) So that would make sense that during that period, they got separate releases. It's interesting that it's a really different cover, though, with a picture of Robin at the top. So assuming it's not a bootleg, it's just a really neat variation. I spent some time on the person's eBay page, and they have 100% customer satisfaction, and a lot of pop and rock imports from the '50's to the '80's, and they've been doing this for a while. So I'll make a place, and maybe we can find more information about it someday! -- Ken (talk) 04:48, October 1, 2009 (UTC)

Disco Records

Not sure if you saw but I uploaded all those labels you found to the Image Chamber, so they are available when you want them. -- Wendy (talk) 01:45, September 30, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks! I usually follow the upload log, in case you find any record pictures, so I saw them there. The problem is that I don't know what to do with them right now, since I don't know if they're Canadian store stock, or US promos with a whole new numbering series. (I still don't know where that Canadian Born to Add 45 came from. That's a really strange number!) I wish the person had shown the covers on all three, but they might not have had them. But at least now we have more numbers to mess with! -- Ken (talk) 01:55, September 30, 2009 (UTC)

Old School

Before you start moving pages around, can you look at Talk:Old School, Vol. 1. —Scott (talk) 03:02, September 29, 2009 (UTC)

Brad was doing the moving. I was just making a page. I'll reply in a second. -- Ken (talk) 03:03, September 29, 2009 (UTC)

Jerome Kern

Ken, I've put links to my photographs and tried to answer your queries on my talk page Emma 20:44, September 6, 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I saw that. I'm finishing some other stuff, but I'll look at that too. Thanks for the pictures! -- Ken (talk) 21:51, September 6, 2009 (UTC)

Mostly British Muppet Records and CDs

Hi Ken, As part of my researches into Louise Gold's various recording credits I've got quite a list of albums she sang on, including many of the Muppet albums, and that goes down to different issues of the same album, if you are interested you may like to have a glance through my list (see http://www.qsulis.demon.co.uk/Website_Louise_Gold/Guide_To_Recordings.htm and see if it gives you any further info (I'm afraid the Muppet and Sesame ones are jumbled up with everything else). I do actually have most of the albums included on my list, if you want me to check any info on them. Emma 17:55, September 5, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, Emma! I've run across your list before, as I was searching for things when I first got here, so I think I've looked at everything. Although now that I'm looking at it again, can you give me some more details on Muppet Music Mix? I never saw that one come out in the US. Was it a UK-only album? -- Ken (talk) 18:00, September 5, 2009 (UTC)
Hi Ken, I have dug out my edition of the cassette of the album 'Muppet Music Mix'. I don't have the CD (and don't know for sure if it existed). I do however also have a Free Poster that came with the cassette. I think the free posters were usually with US editions of the various mid 1990s albums weren't they? On both the sleeve notes for the cassette and also on the poster it says "Jim Henson Records manufactured and distributed by BMG Music, New York, NY. Printed in USA." The album is copyrighted 1994. Rather curiously the inlay card for the cassette appears to be just a piece of inlay card folded in half, with no piece for the spine of the cassette (although it's possible that could be missing).
I've just had a look through the various versions I've got of 'Muppet Hits 1', and 'The Muppet Christmas Carol Soundtrack', and one thing is noticeable, as far as I can tell the Uk editions were printed either in the Uk or in Germany (anyway in Europe), while the US editions were either printed in New York (thus in the US) or in Canada (at any rate in the North American Continent). This would suggest that Muppet Music Mix is a US issue. The presence of the poster would also indicate this, since I'm pretty sure the UK versions of the albums didn't have posters. (I remember buying the UK version of Muppet Hits 1 and that definitely didn't have a poster).
I think it probababy had a smaller print run than many of the other albums of that time (that is a guess). I am wondering whether it may have been in part to promote the rest of the albums being produced at that time (perhaps in a similar manner to 'Muppet Music Sampler'). Hope that helps. Would you like me to scan the album cover and email that to you? Emma 20:23, September 5, 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, because I remember making sure to get all of the BMG Kidz CD's that were out then (or at least the ones that featured pre-1990 material), so if I missed one, I'm always glad to find out about it! Thank you for thinking of me! Would it be possible to scan everything you've got, which would be the cassette cover (front and back if it's 2-sided) and both cassette labels? I don't need the poster, and it's probably kind of big anyway. You can either e-mail me through the wiki, or just put the scans on my talk page, whichever is easier. I'll figure out what to do with them.
I know you're in the UK, but have a happy (US) Labor Day holiday weekend anyway! -- Ken (talk) 20:40, September 5, 2009 (UTC)
Ok I've put the scan on http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/File:MuppetMusicMix.jpg It is the front cover, and the other side of the folded page. The album does not have a back cover. Emma 20:48, September 5, 2009 (UTC)
Thanks! Can you scan both sides of the tape? I'll need to confirm the track order and catalog number. I hate to ask you to scan the cover again, but can you just scan the front half? That will be the picture for the page. Thanks, and I really appreciate you doing this! -- Ken (talk) 20:51, September 5, 2009 (UTC)
Both sides of the tape now scanned, see:

Back on Oz duty

Hey Ken, after a lengthy break, I'm re-enthused for Muppet Wiki work -- I know you'd asked me in the past to do some more research on Australian releases, so I'm happy to dig into that again if there's still stuff that needs checking (or finding). Gusworld 19:05, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Angus! Wow, I didn't realize I hadn't talked to you in over a year. Well, I don't know if you've seen them, but we now have pages for Axis Records and Summit Records. All the missing covers are the ones that we've been able to prove by record numbers on the backs of other albums, but we need the pictures. And if you know of any that aren't there, we need the number, too. Also, some of these albums exist on both labels, so there is some overlap. If you know of any singles, that would be great, too. We have some Australian singles on International Sesame Street Singles, but I think there are more. Another thing is that we know that there were CD's on EMI of the Sony Wonder CD's. We're not sure of the exact label name, though. All we have is something called "ABC Music & CTV/EMI Australia", but we're not sure if that's the actual label name. If nothing turns up in any of those areas, I've started to look into international video as well, so if you run across any VHS or DVD releases of Sesame Street videos, we have gaps to fill there as well. (Do you get VCD's over there?) Sorry if this is a lot of information. I wanted to write it all down before I forget! If you want specifics in a smaller area, let me know, and I can break it down for you. Good to see you again! -- Ken (talk) 03:45, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Publishers

Hey Ken. I see what you mean on what to place on publisher that it is not for record labels, but for sheet music. Thanks for letting me know since I thought publisher was something else. Anyway, I guess I'll talk to you later and hope you take care. -- Steven (talk) 05:30, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Sure thing! Thanks for all the stuff you've been adding! -- Ken (talk) 05:33, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
No problem! Thanks for all the stuff you've been adding and editing too. -- Steven (talk) 05:46, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

underground

Hey Ken -- just curious why you made a page for Labyrinth singles instead of leaving Underground (single) and Magic Dance (single) separate?? I think the standalone pages look nice in this case.... unless there are more singles out there at any rate. Anyhow you haven't moved over the Magic Dance singles yet; did you mean to? I'm assuming yes, because you tagged the page for deletion already.

Incidentally, is it supposed to be international? because the Underground single was released all over the place from what I see on ebay.... -- Wendy (talk) 01:08, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I've been thinking about this for a long time. We don't have separate pages for a record release of a song, so I've always felt that the Labyrinth singles were kind of odd, because they were the only 2 that Rich (Mistersuperstar) created that way. And then, after I've been messing around with the various foreign stuff, I thought that we could put all of the text about the single releases on the song pages, and for the covers, just make charts similar to the other singles pages. Another reason I did this is because I wanted people to be able to see everything in one place, just like all of the other singles pages. I was going to split it into a US page and non-US page, but the US page would only be 1 45 and 2 12" singles. I would prefer to do it that way, but other people might think that's kind of short. This is also a unique situation, because they're the only Muppet-related records entirely performed by somebody who was already a star, and there are a whole bunch of countries that I know had these records, and we don't have them yet. So I kind of reworked what was already here, to have it match our other singles and album pages. It still bothers me that the Dark Crystal and Labyrinth LP's don't have a place on any of the discography pages, but I guess since they're in a class by themselves, they have to be with the Creature Shop stuff, or in Merchandise under their own movies. Anyway, yeah, I'm going to finish Magic Dance tonight, and then I'm going to research other countries' releases that I know about. -- Ken (talk) 05:44, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
And I see you've already added a bunch of stuff! Wow! Thank you! -- Ken (talk) 05:47, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Carry About on Ebay

Hi! I just saw this auction for the Sesame Street Carry About set -- just want to make sure you see it. -- Danny@Wikia (talk) 06:47, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

I already have one, but thanks for thinking of me! You should get one, just to have the long version of People in Your Neighborhood, and the Hello skit. This one's missing some of the books, but it's cool that it's the first edition (the CCA prefix later became CC). Actually, these are pretty common. What's really rare is the Carry About for Havin' Fun with Ernie and Bert! I've never seen a complete set of that in my life, and from what I can tell from the individual discs that I've seen, the song pairings are different on the Carry About edition. So if you ever run into one of those, please let me know! -- Ken (talk) 01:30, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Kermit Culture Cometh

Been preoccupied so haven't responded to your e-mails, but it is now officially out! And all contributors *will* get one free copy after all! (20 percent off additional copies). So yay! -- Andrew Leal (talk) 23:35, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Yay and hallelujah and hugs all around! And it matches The Muppet Show Season 1! (I wonder if Amazon will sell them together?) Anyway, I'll write more soon, and congratulations again! -- Ken (talk) 04:42, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

Muppet Singles

I'm so glad you finally created this -- I always tried to go to it, only it wasn't there! -- Wendy (talk) 05:53, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, my conversations with Danny got me to thinking about how to standardize our recordings so that all the US stuff will be together, and all the international stuff will be together, too. I'm reworking some other stuff, and I should be done soon! -- Ken (talk) 05:56, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Hello Ken

I recently left you a couple of messages on my talk page concerning the Sesame Street Fever album. When you have a chance, could you please check them out. Thanks.Frschoonover 14:50, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Frank! I saw your messages, but I couldn't think of anything to say in reply. However, tonight I checked my Top Pop Albums book again, and it is in there, under Various Artist albums! Thanks for finding that! -- Ken (talk) 03:41, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

More Bobu!

Youtube is a veritable treasure trove some days. This video I think you'll like -- we're apparently missing an entire LP from him. Also, the same poster has a bunch of his singles on there.... The info isn't always complete but it's a start. -- Wendy (talk) 02:49, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, that's the song I sent you the link for last week. I didn't know if you were able to capture frames of a video that show album and single covers. I've started collecting data at Talk: Bob McGrath Discography if you find anything else. -- Ken (talk) 03:38, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
Of course! (duh) I didn't go all the way through that person's stuff the first time, and this one didn't pull up for me on her front page, and then I didn't notice it was the same person. Oh well. I actually added the titles into the discography that I found - you can pull them out if you feel they shouldn't go there; I could pull a couple of them for images but not most. The LP is at a very strange angle, and one of the 45s I'm not sure which shot is the cover, but the one I think is the cover looks cropped... so it's hit or miss. I also found one other 45 on some random japanese site; beautiful image but watermarked (sigh), and of course I can't read the text about it. -- Wendy (talk) 03:01, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
What site was it? I could figure out some of them using Babelfish. And another one I need help to blow up the image, but I didn't know if you could make it any better. Let me know. -- Ken (talk) 04:07, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi Ken, the "My Name Is Bob" lp is a Japanese release of Mitch Miller Presentes Bob McGrath, which the Drifter single and the More/Danny Boy etc EP came from. the 11pm ep is from the lp of the same name, and Home Sweet Home has an EP from it which i can post soon. the other singles are not from lps that i know of. i don't know how many english songs are on japanese releases, my impression is that it depended on what american songs were popular over there and how quickly he could learn japanese songs. i don't even know how many japanese releases bob had--he said in an interview that he did 7 or 8 LPs and 30 or 40 singles, so we have a long way to go :) but they're super hard to find! (as an historian who deals with written material, which is fairly well catalogued even for the 17th century, which is my period, i am shocked at how little info there is out there on vinyl recordings, much less pop recordings, much less foreign releases...). anyway, i will put up the narration stuff. and my name is Kate, and that would be my youtube channel that you got the info from--it seems Bob's records are about all i have that nobody else has put up yet, so i figured i'd post a few songs for the sesame street audience and the original japanese audience :) StreetScenes 23:04, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

So I found a non-promo copy of Bob McGrath's Drifter/Ribbon Bow single, but it's so small I hate to swap it out; still I thought you might like to see the auction. I can't believe the "Buy it Now" price. -- Wendy (talk) 04:59, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
Thanks! It looks like it's autographed, so that's why it's so expensive. It's not in very good condition, and the label looks kind of smudged. I think you can get a good copy of the whole album for less than that. I would leave the promo up for now. I like it because you can read everything. We'll find a nice store stock copy someday! -- Ken (talk) 05:09, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

template

Hi Ken! Do you still need this? —Scott (talk) 03:13, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Oh, thanks! I forgot about that. No, that was something I was messing with a while ago, but I don't need it anymore. -- Ken (talk) 04:04, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Singles

I found this listing, and I've added it to his discography. The seller says the number is 45-203, but it looks more like 456-203 to me (?).

Also I found one of your CRA singles from Ernie & Bert; I guessed that it was part of the 760xx series since I couldn't read it clearly and we don't have any of the 750xx yet... -- Wendy (talk) 02:09, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

Actually, that's the version 2 edition. Version 1 is CC 75053 by Columbia (the picture is above), and what you found is version 2, because it still says CC 75053, but it's put out by CRA (the logo is different in the box). Version 3 would be numbered CRA 76053. Basically, the records with the altered numbers will have a CRA prefix on the label, like the one you found of CRA 76048 (that picture is also above). So the CC series will have either Columbia logos or CRA logos, but the numbers will be the same. It's kind of like the CRA and Distinguished editions of the later 45's. Those have the same number, but they exist with 2 different logos. I hope this isn't too confusing. I guess the only thing I can do to make it simpler is to put this above in sequence in the CRA section, and as we find more, it'll make more sense. -- Ken (talk) 02:30, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Nope -- that makes sense actually. If it has "CC" in it, it's 750xx and if it doesn't then it's 760xx, right? -- Wendy (talk) 03:42, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, except that the CC's exist with 2 logos. I moved the CRA cover you found to earlier in the CRA section, since we already had the Columbia cover. Some record dealers confuse "CRA" the label name with "CRA" the prefix, and the only way to know for sure is to double-check the number. What's even more confusing is that some of the Columbia LP's went to the CTW system (SS1, Roosevelt, and Live), but Havin' Fun and Alphabet kept the CC number (with a Sesame Street label) all the way until 1983! After a while, you just know which is which. I even went to eBay today to see if any of the first 9 Columbia SS singles were released with a CRA logo, but so far I didn't see anything. -- Ken (talk) 03:56, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, Kyle! One question. Are all the ones at the top Sony? I'm asking because some of the Genius ones kept the LVD number, so sometimes it gets confusing. Thanks! -- Ken (talk) 06:45, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Yes the ones at the top are the Sony Wonder and the ones at the bottom are the Genius ones. And your so very welcome. Thanks for writing the company and can't wait to hear what they have to say. Talk to you later. -- Kyle (talk) 03:00, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Single Label

Hey Ken -- I found this copy of Wynken, Blynken & Nod; I thought it was interesting that the WB logo isn't on the label for it and that you might want to see it :). -- Wendy (talk) 03:01, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I've seen that one before. (I wish we could find the other one!) The singles and LP of In Harmony look like Sesame Street labels. It was kind of a neat one-time thing they did. Thanks! -- Ken (talk) 05:59, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks! There's a lot of confusion over years and catalog numbers now that Genius is taking over. Some titles even keep the Sony numbers, but some don't. I've been having to take a legal pad to libraries and bookstores to actually copy down information from stuff in the bins. Sometimes I get some strange looks and questions, but I'm used to collecting information from anywhere I can! -- Ken (talk) 06:48, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
Hey Ken! Long long time no see. How have you been? Sorry if i'm writing in an old post of yours but i stopped by and saw you needed some help on the SS sony DVDs. I can give you a list of what i might have. I think i have several of the ones that Danny mentioned here but i'll get back to you on the DVDs that i have. -- Kyle (talk) 08:55, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, Kyle! Any time you want to add to an old post is fine with me as long as it's on the current page, so I can see it. I'm looking forward to whatever you can help with! -- Ken (talk) 05:14, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Education Resource

here is a new one we don't have.... -- Wendy (talk) 00:11, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

Cool, that looks interesting! Worldcat has a lot of video items that were meant for school use only, and not for sale in stores, so I'll see what I can find on that one. I think I saw some Worldcat listings once that had early Sesame episodes on U-matic videotapes! I hope they still have them (and the players)! -- Ken (talk) 03:09, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

videos

Hey Ken. I went through amazon, searching "sesame sony" in the vhs and took everything they have. However a lot of their listings either show tiny pics, DVD pics on the VHS page, or the old Random House covers. Sort of makes me grouchy. But at anyrate, I got a bunch more covers for you. -- Wendy (talk) 18:20, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

Wow, it looks like you got 28 covers! Thanks! I was in the middle of getting ISBN's and ASIN's, but I got stuck, because I'm getting multiple ISBN's on some Random House, and it doesn't make sense, because it's the same first half of the bar code and prefix on the ISBN. So I'm trying to figure that out, and I'm also making a master multi-brand list (for my own private research) so I can figure out what's been out how many times, and on what format. Some RH has never been on Sony, and some Sony VHS has never been on DVD (both original Sonys and carryovers from RH), and some Sonys might come out on Genius, so that'll be another whole thing to watch as they get reissued. Michael said he saw a "Best of Elmo" on Genius, but I can't find a number or a cover picture on the Web. I hope stores are getting it!
By the way, something weird is happening. The templates you're putting for video have "Video" at the front, but the one we had discussed has "video" (lowercase) at the front. The "Video" one is missing the catalog place, and other stuff is in a different order. But the one in the template category looks like the right one, and there are no other ones in there. Is there a "phantom" video template that needs to get erased? It looks like we somehow have 2 of them! Let me know if that makes sense. -- Ken (talk) 23:25, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
I found some extra covers on ebay; big enough to start with, so that helped. Technically video and Video should do the same thing just like elmo and Elmo do the same thing. I was being a bit random about the order I put the fields in because I was mutating the DVD templates but I don't think that should matter on the output. I might have forgotten to add a cat field though... -- Wendy (talk) 00:09, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
Oh, okay. I didn't know you could alter a template. I'll double-check numbers and stuff as I'm reworking pages. Thanks! -- Ken (talk) 03:09, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

We're getting famous! They're borrowing our text, pictures, and boxes! Although I wish they would say "stock picture", because I like to make sure what the one I'm getting actually looks like as far as condition. -- Ken (talk) 03:44, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Barrio Sesamo DVD and book (New issues)

Look what I found.. Is there a central place to add the link? Or even more info? If you look here you know what I mean ;) (Pino 23:43, 9 February 2009 (UTC))

Wow! Is that the website of the company who makes them? It looks like it's a club where you have to join, and you get a DVD every month. (Your Spanish is probably better than mine!) Yeah, that would be good for an external link if we make a page for the series. -- Ken (talk) 02:55, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Templates

Hey Ken -- moving this here; I thought you might like to try making a template; I'm happy to help you through it. The easiest way is to modfiy something, so I would suggest you start by going to Template:Album, and looking at the source ("edit", but I think it's protected so it won't be an edit window). Copy it into your own template (eg. Template:KenVideo). The stuff in the first "line" just sets up the box. You don't need to worry about that because you want the same box. Look at the next lines -- they will say:

|- class{{{soundtrack}}}="hiddenStructure"
| valign=top |'''Songs from'''  || {{{soundtrack}}}

This is what you asked about. The "class{{{soundtrack}}}" says that soundtrack is the name of the input field. The next line gives the text you will see (Songs from) and then gives the input that will be filled in (soundtrack). You can leave all the other stuff unchanged (in fact you should).

So basically you would take each pair of lines like this and change the input and text to what you want them to be. You can add pairs of lines or take them out if there aren't enough. Give it a try and see how it goes - it looks sort of scary but you really don't have to change very much of it :). -- Wendy (talk) 16:34, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Okay, I think I got most of it, but it's not working right. I made a page at Sandbox:Learning about letters test so you can see what I'm thinking about. All I want to do is put a box under a first edition VHS, and then put a gallery farther down, like the records. Can you see why it's not doing the "company" part right? -- Ken (talk) 06:02, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
Good job! You still had "label" in the company line, which wasn't one of the inputs so that was causing the problem. I changed it to company for you. So it should work now :). -- Wendy (talk) 15:19, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Discography

Hey Ken. I just wanted to stop by to let you know I made my first addition to the music sections with the cassette version of The Muppet Christmas Carol. It's not easy finding something that isn't already posted, so at least that's a start. Is there any interest as a community of adding back covers or gatefold images for the albums? The covers are so great to look at, I think it would be fun to have more pictures. Codename7 04:49, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Troy! That's great! If you want to look at the Images Wanted page, there's a whole bunch of audio and video titles we need covers for, mostly reissues. I haven't had time to add every title we need on that list yet, so you can ask me if you need a quick answer about something. As far as back covers, they're okay as long as they have a picture. A lot of the early (pre-74) LP's had color back covers, and most of them are here, but the main SS series just had the text back cover. Also, I think a lot of the covers came from eBay and places like that, so we need back covers. So if you have back covers or inside gatefolds of stuff, go right ahead! -- Ken (talk) 05:28, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
Hi Ken. I added three cassettes from my collection to the Sesame Street discography. They are all on the Sight and Sound label, but there is a discrepancy in the labeling from what was already on the pages and I wasn't sure how to proceed. The People In Your Neighborhood is in fact GNL-228 as the page said. The copies of Every Body's Cassette and The Count Counts that I have do not include the GNL prefixes. I wasn't sure if I should delete the prefixes on the pages or make a separate listing for these copies. Neither the covers nor the labels include the GNL prefix. Please let me know.Codename7 05:59, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, they seem to have either come out with 2 different numbering systems, or the information I have isn't accurate. I would go with the copies you have, since we know that some tapes have the GNL, and some don't. If we find other versions that have the prefix, we can add them to the gallery. -- Ken (talk) 06:07, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

HOPS

Hi Ken I mean to say that HOPS was inserted within the magazine ouders van nu.. Ehm you pay for the magazine ouders van nu and get Hobs inside it in the middle. But How do you say that? Can you make this more clear on the page for me? Thanks (Pino 22:34, 24 January 2009 (UTC))

Sure, I'll give it a try. I moved some pictures around, because they were running into other pictures. Let me know how it looks. -- Ken (talk) 02:10, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Vila Sesamo link

Ken, Ive added a link so you can hear the sounds of the Vila sesamo record! Its really nice music to listen to! (Pino 20:16, 9 January 2009 (UTC))

It's raining promos

Apparently. I found a listing thusly: "45 RPM L5028 BIG BIRD/KERMIT FROG HAPPIEST STREET N WORLD DISCO FROG SESAME SD1-A $8.50" The number would put it in sequence with the Loretta Lynn, which was SC-1.... and suggest there are at least two more out there! -- Wendy (talk) 17:18, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

They also have 2 Bob McGrath singles I hadn't seen before, on Juno and Epic??? -- Wendy (talk) 18:10, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
Hmmm. Actually, I think the SD stands for Sesame Disco, and SC stands for Sesame Country. It wouldn't make sense to put a promo out 2 years later. Plus, that coupling is different from the regular releases, so I think they were trying for a "hit" with those 2 songs. Disco Frog was one of the rare songs that got performed on SS and TMS in the same period, and Happiest Street is featured on the album twice. But the store stock 45 of Disco Frog is backed with the disco version of Green, so that would have been sold as a Kermit single (I'd love to see the cover; it's the only disco one we're missing). So I'll move it up a little. Thanks for finding that site! I can see myself wasting lots of time there!
Now Bob is even more interesting. "Love is Blue" was a huge hit around 1967-1968, and a bunch of people recorded versions around that time, so that makes sense for Bob to be in that group. That one side is a Christmas song means that this would have been Christmas 1967. But I thought he was still signed to Columbia at that point. Plus I've never heard of Juno Records, but I'll see what I can find. Also, Epic was a sister label to Columbia, and 10562 is right around 1969-1970, so he was already on Sesame Street at that point. I don't know if he resigned but got moved from Columbia, or if they issued something that hadn't come out in the US before. It looks like some of his stuff was Japan only, after the first album didn't do anything here. So I'll move those up too, and I hope we find pictures! -- Ken (talk) 03:47, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Here's something interesting! "Christmas Lullaby" is a spoken word recording, and Cary Grant recorded it on a Columbia 45 in 1967. So that fits too! I love doing this! Thanks again! -- Ken (talk) 03:52, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
I knew you'd like that site :)! It makes my eyes cross to find stuff on it. I was actually trying to find the Disco Frog cover when I pulled the initial listing. I considered that SD was Sesame Disco and SC Sesame Country, but it fits my alphabet-sensibility better to think that they made SA, SB etc.... I confess the necessary gap between the album and the promo does make that less plausible. Ah well. Incidentally there's a single out there where somebody covered Disco Frog; I must have pulled dozens of copies in a Google search.
I was really surprised by the Bob stuff; I kept double checking that it wasn't "Bat McGrath" (who is listed above him) and wondering if it was really the same Bob McGrath, especially when I checked our page and didn't see either label name. But I knew you'd sort it if it wasn't :). On the other hand I didn't realize there was an actual Robert McGrath out there - talk about confusing! -- Wendy (talk) 18:48, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Somebody covered Disco Frog? Who was it? I couldn't find anything. But I did happen to find a picture of a Juno 45. So here it is for fun. -- Ken (talk) 06:45, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
Family of Frogs. Looks like it's Canadian. I've also seen one by Mr. Dumont on a new (I think) CD.... no idea who that is. And there's a french language "Disco Grenouille" by Belgian singer Axelle Red; not entirely sure if that's the same song or not. In fact, BMI has two songs named "Disco Frog" -- one Raposo, one not. So it's hard to say if any of them are the same. -- Wendy (talk) 02:55, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
