Universal Studios Singapore is the Singaporean Universal Studios theme park, located within Resorts World Sentosa on Sentosa Island, Singapore. It is the second Universal Studios theme park to open in Asia (the first being Universal Studios Japan), as well as the first Universal Studios theme park in Southeast Asia. After four years of development and construction, the park had a "soft opening" period from March 18 to October 26 in 2010, with a grand opening on May 28, 2011.
On May 18, 2012, USS announced that it will be adding a Sesame Street theme park ride, scheduled to open later in June. It will be a dark in-door ride located within the New York area. Andrea Teo, vice-president of Entertainment at Resorts World Sentosa, said of the upcoming attraction: "I think it's a very unique ride. It's got the same Sesame Street kind of humour, it's a bit wacky, it's a bit way-out-there, it'll make you laugh and because it's a ride, it also gives you a bit of a thrill (and) adventure." [1]
Eight walk-around Sesame Street characters - Elmo, Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Ernie, Bert, Grover, Abby Cadabby, and Oscar the Grouch appear in the park, greeting guests and starring in three live street shows: When I Grow Up, Our Favorite Things, and Dance with Bert and Ernie. Additionally, Loui's Pizza has a ββSesame Streetββ Character Breakfast that runs on select weekends and holidays from 9:00am to 10:30am. Sesame Street merchandise will be sold in three retail outlets, including a Sesame Street School Bus that drives around the park (expected in July). [2]
Prior to the news announcement, Resort World Sentosa released a teaser trailer on their Youtube channel ("Treasure"). Another teaser, entitled "Crumbs", was released on May 22, 2012.
