Universal Studios

Universal Studios, the film division of NBC Universal, operates several theme parks in Orlando, Florida, Hollywood, California, and Japan. Sesame Street attractions are a part of Universal Studios Japan, including Sesame Street 4-D Movie Magic.

Universal Studios Hollywood was the first of their theme parks, originally running tours of the backlots and soundstages of movie productions. Universal Studios Orlando Resort houses not only the Universal Studios theme park, but also the Islands of Adventure, which is home to many rides based on Marvel Comics, Jay Ward, Harry Potter, and Dr. Seuss characters. A chief rival of both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, Universal Studios Hollywood is one of the oldest Hollywood studios.

While the Disney parks feature classic characters such as Mickey Mouse, the Universal parks have a stable of classic characters such as The Marx Brothers, Lucille Ball, Hanna-Barbera characters, Back to the Future's Doc Brown, and classic monsters such as Frankenstein, Dracula, Creature from the Black Lagoon and the Mummy.

Aside from the Japanese attractions and merchandise, the Muppets have featured the theme parks on several occasions in various productions.

Universal Studios Hollywood added a Conan the Barbarian stage show to Universal Studios Hollywood which Miss Piggy visited, along with the King Kong ride, in Muppet Magazine issue 21.

In the Jim Henson Hour special "Miss Piggy's Hollywood", Miss Piggy and Gonzo take the Universal Studios tour, going through many of the most popular rides of the time, including King Kong, Jaws, Earthquake, and Miami Vice.

In The Muppets, an elderly Asian couple appear at the tour of the Muppet Studios and ask if it is the Universal Studios. Parts of the film were filmed on the Universal backlot.

On the Universal Studios Florida ride Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster, "The Rainbow Connection" and "Movin' Right Along" are hidden songs that can be accessed to play on the ride.^[1]
