Tweedle Dee is a nonsensical, upbeat, jazzy rhythm and blues song. It was a 1954 hit for LaVern Baker, but a quick cover by white singer Georgia Gibbs sold many more records and spawned a copyright battle between the two. It has also been covered by Elvis Presley, in an early radio recording.

Jaye P. Morgan and Youknow Bird perform the song in Episode 218 of The Muppet Show, as Jaye P. complains about the cuteness of the show in general, and the odor of her bird costume in particular.

Kermit introduces the song as "the very first piece of material the Muppets ever did ... about 23 years ago" which would make this the first song performed on Sam and Friends in 1955. (Jaye P. also performs another Sam and Friends song in the episode, "That Old Black Magic.")
