Tribute: A Concert Honoring the Teachers of America was an all-star back-to-school special that aired on PBS on October 4, 2007 at 8 p.m. on Thirteen. The event was led by Rosie O'Donnell, Bill Cosby, Cynthia Nixon, and Tim McCarver and featured Peter, Paul & Mary, Judy Collins, Tom Paxton, and Odetta, Steve Seskin, Christine Lavin, Bethany and Rufus, Jonathan “Baby Jay” Gutierrez, and Christine Evans. Elmo, as well as Kevin Clash, also appeared. Elmo stood in for Mary in the folk trio Peter, Paul & Mary to sing a song to teachers, after the song Clash came out from under Elmo to personally thank one of his teachers.
