Toronto International Studios was, in its time, the largest film complex in Canada. Based out of Kleinberg, Ontario, a rural area north of Toronto, it was owned by Garth H. Drabinsky.

Sesame Street feature film Follow That Bird was shot partially at the studios. It was also host to Forest Rangers, and David Cronenberg's horror film The Fly.

Drabinsky also owned the country's largest independent film distribution company, Cineplex Odeon Films; at the time, the largest multi-screen theatre in the world (the 18-screen Toronto Eaton Centre); its largest motion picture laboratory and post-production sound and editing facility, Film House, later absorbed by Deluxe Laboratories.
