Tommi Piper (b. 1941), also credited as Thomas Piper, is a German voice actor who dubbed the speaking voice of Oscar the Grouch in Bibos abenteuerliche Flucht (Follow That Bird). He later dubbed Billy Bones in Muppets Die Schatzinsel (Muppet Treasure Island) and Pepe in Muppets aus dem All (Muppets from Space).
Piper is particularly known in Germany as the voice of ALF, dubbing the character in the TV series, animated series, Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue, the 1996 TV movie Project: Alf, and even singing as him on two albums. He is also the primary German voice of Harvey Fierstein (including Independence Day), and has frequently dubbed Jeff Bridges, Tony Danza, and Nick Nolte, as well as Tim Curry in Times Square, Laurence Fishburne in King of New York, and Kris Kristofferson in Joyful Noise. One of his earliest dubbing assignments, in the 1970s, was re-voicing Michael Landon on Bonanza, while post-ALF, he continued to dub other puppet characters, including the Cryptkeeper on Tales from the Cryptkeeper and Mr. Floppy on Unhappily Ever After.
Apart from ALF, cartoon roles include Scooby-Doo (in The New Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show and The Thirteen Ghosts of Scooby-Doo), Ben Grimm on The Fantastic Four, Crow on The Animals of Farthing Wood, and the medicine man in Asterix in America. In audio books (hörspiele), Piper has played Mr. Porter in the Three Investigators series since 2012 (taking over from the late Michael Habeck) and Captain Hook in a 2008 adaptation of Peter Pan. He remains active on-camera, playing the villainous Baron Konstantin on the juvenile adventure series Fluch des Falken (Curse of the Hawks; 2011-2012).
