I just added it to my common.js to see how it works. It puts a little button "dead video" on the page. Clicking it opens a window and clicking start looks for the dead links. The top window shows the processed videos, and, looking at the run I just did, it includes dailymotion and vimeo.

After it finishes you can convert the dead list to wiki text to make it easier to find the file pages. It's pretty easy actually.

Incidentally it found two more dead youtube videos: [[:file:Stuart_meets_Kermit| this one]] and this one. I'm not entirely clear if you were just removing the links or trying to find new copies.
