Also -- turns out we already have mockups for captions in the lightbox, but the decision was made to cut them for the time being. It was a performance reason, not a functionality or design reason. It's on our to-do list of how to make it less heavy to load them.
Hey Trevor. Just wanted to point out a case of content collision with some videos in the lightbox. Go to Alien (movies) and play the embedded video. When you mouse over to the area to pause the video or adjust the volume, the footer is getting in the way.
Ahhh yes, 4:3 Daily Motion videos don't cooperate properly yet. We set the players by width, not height. We've already fixed this on the dev environment so it may be going out this week or the following -- not certain.
Thanks. I'm also noticing that images don't always load properly, or at all, in the lightbox. It's been happening all along, but I'm noticing it a lot more now. Here are some screenshots.
no thumbnail
only the portion under the arrows and header loads
partial load
no load at all, just sits there loading with that animation
This one... I'm not so sure what's happening. Do you use Firefox? For some reason Firefox is the least cooperative browser for this feature. I'll try to reproduce it and see what the source is. Thanks for the screenshots -- those will be super helpful.
It's hard to tell right now. The site's had so many problems since Monday, I've been avoiding coming here. Right now Wikia feels like it's on dial-up. I'll let you know how lightboxes are in Firefox as soon as I can get back to using the site regularly.
Hey Trevor. Site speed's been a little better, so I've had some time to go through all the bugs that have been cropping up (Danny's filing tickets for the other ones). Anyway, I'm still seeing the same problem with images loading in the lighbox. Here's another example.
Also, the images that do load, are taking a really long time to do so. Compare with how quickly they load in a slideshow (you can find one at the bottom of Green Earth Blue Skies).
Hi, Trevor. Found a new bug with lightbox. On some pages, such as this one, not all the pictures in the article are available as thumbnails in the slideshow.
Scott -- thanks for the report. We actually just had our weekly code release a couple of hours ago and I think your most recent bug report about Sesame Street tin boxes (Applause) has been fixed -- I'm seeing 14 images in the carousel.
The "posted in" message no longer appears if the image is not embedded on an article.
The firefox thing is probably still an issue, as that ticket is still open.
Scott -- a whole bunch of new lightbox code was released today.
I do know the "posted in" bug is still a problem. Also, how often are you seeing sections of the image missing? That's a tough one for us to reproduce.
Hey Trevor! So, now that the majority of the MW upgrade bugs have been taken care of, how are things going with the lightbox? They've been broken in Firefox for about two months now. Is the ticket still open?
We released another fix last Wednesday, but we had to temporarily revert the entire release from last week to squash another bug. That bug has been fixed and now we're on the correct release, so it should be working now.
I haven't been able to reproduce since our newest code went out yesterday. Have you been able to?
