Thomas Dolby (b. 1958), real name Thomas Morgan Robertson, is an English musician and composer best known for his work with synthesizers and in particular the song "She Blinded Me with Science." He guest starred on The Ghost of Faffner Hall in "Discovering New Sounds," where he demonstrates the science behind synthesizers, with the help of a Fly in a Matchbox. Dolby's "She Blinded Me with Science" was later used on Muppets Tonight.
Dolby's work with "synthpop" has included many albums and stage performances, including the 1990 Berlin benefit performance of the rock opera The Wall (playing the schoolmaster). He also had a co-starring role in the obscure 1990 vampire musical film Rockula. Dolby also composed music for such films as Ken Russell's Gothic, Howard the Duck (where he cameoed as a bartender), and the animated environmental fable Ferngully: The Last Rainforest.
