"This Is Tom Jones" was a weekly television variety show hosted by Tom Jones that ran for three seasons from 1969 to 1971. In addition, following the season finale in January 1971, eight special episodes of "This Is Tom Jones" aired.

The July 8, 1971 special featured guest appearances by the Muppets, including Mahna Mahna and the Snowths, who performed "Mahna Mahna."

Kermit the Frog and Rowlf the Dog also appeared, performing "(They Long to Be) Close to You" with Connie Stevens. (Kermit and Fozzie Bear would later sing the same song with Stevens on episode 102 of The Muppet Show).

Kermit, Rowlf, Connie and Tom also sang "I Know a Place" and "Keep the Customer Satisfied."

The appearance marked Jim Henson's first time staying in London; only five years later, he would be living there while producing The Muppet Show. His first stay extended from February 4 to 15, 1971 for taping. Jane Henson joined him for a couple days.[1]
