The White House Easter Egg Roll has been a White House tradition since President Rutherford B. Hayes opened the grounds in 1878.
Muppet and Sesame Street appearances
- 2003: (April 21) Bear in the Big Blue House performs. Zoe appears. [1]
- 2004: Bear performs. Elmo walks around on the grounds. [2]
- 2005: Sonia Manzano is one of the guest readers. [3]
- 2007: (April 9) Elmo, Rosita and Gordon perform. An Abby Cadabby walk-around is among the strolling characters. [4]
- 2008: (March 28) Elmo and Zoe will appear with Roscoe Orman as Gordon. A walk-around character of Abby Cadabby is among the costumed characters. Hosted by Laura Bush.
