"The Turtle Who Wanted To Make Friends" is a Sesame Street story read by Bob. Shelly the Turtle (performed by Jim Henson) wants to make some new friends, but each time he tries to do so, he just hides in his shell. Shelly thought that he could hide in his shell because that's what turtles do and no one likes him as a friend, but Bob didn't think it could help him to make some new friends. He suggests to Shelly that he should stuck his head out of the shell and say "hello" the next time another animal is going to come near him. When the animals came over to Shelly for a picnic, Casey the rabbit is about to stand on Shelly's shell (whom he thinks it's a rock). As he proceeds to do so, Shelly pops his head out of his shell and told Casey that he's not a rock to be stand on. They then introduce each other and Shelly introduces himself to the other animals as the new animal in the forest (and told them to just call them "Shelly"). Shelly understands that in order to make new friends, you just stick your head out and introduce yourself.
