The Tale of Traveling Matt is a lyrical tribute to Uncle Matt, as told by Gobo Fraggle. Gobo extolls Matt's virtues and describes how his uncle left Fraggle Rock to explore Outer Space. Several postcards from the series are depicted.

For the Weekly Reader edition, the book was retitled Traveling Matt's Adventures in Outer Space.
