The Sesame Street Players Present Peter and the Wolf is part of a series of Sesame Street books designed to introduce children to music concepts. In this book, the Sesame characters present the story of Sergei Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf. Peter is played by Grover, the wolf by Cookie Monster, the bird by Bert, the duck by Gladys the Cow (in this case, only duck's new hat gets eaten, rather than the duck herself), the cat by Elmo, the grandfather by Oscar the Grouch, and the hunters by three honkers. Prairie Dawn acts as the narrator, and Big Bird conducts the orchestra.
