Fozzie Bear, Scooter, Annie Sue and Link Hogthrob try to sing "The Rhyming Song" on The Muppet Show episode 308. The group's efforts to "take turns and rhyme together" fail miserably, as each contributes a line to the song that does not rhyme or follow the sense of the line before it. The final verse is a discussion of what they should do; Fozzie recommends that they wave their arms, jump up and down, and get off the stage. On the album recording, after the final chorus dissolves into chaos, Annie Sue comments "Well, it wasn't that bad."
This is one of two songs, along with "Jamboree," for which Frank Oz is credited as a writer in the BMI catalogue.
