"The R Machine" is a Sesame Street sketch performed by Ernie and Bert. Bert has made a machine that rings a bell any time somebody says a word which starts with the letter "R". Ernie promptly starts reciting "R" riddles, while Bert protests that he will break the machine. Although the machine eventually explodes, it still responds to the letter R.
