"The R Machine" is a Sesame Street sketch written by Jim Henson and performed by Bert and Ernie. Bert has made a machine that rings a bell any time somebody says a word which starts with the letter "R". Ernie promptly starts reciting "R" riddles, while Bert protests that he will break the machine. Although the machine eventually explodes, it still responds to the letter R.
