The Postman Always Rings Twice is a 1934 crime novel by James M. Cain, which has been adapted twice for Hollywood films (in 1946 and 1981), as well as in other countries. The title is something of a non sequitur in that nowhere in the novel does a postman character appear, nor is one even alluded to.

  • A segment of "Monsterpiece Theater" features a spin on the famous film noir movie, with Grover waiting for the postman to deliver an important letter but, while waiting, many other people come to his house. (EKA: Episode 2910)
