• Jim Henson and Kermit the Frog appeared on the cover of the June 10, 1979 edition of The New York Times Magazine.

• On September 26, 2008, Statler and Waldorf appeared in an "Op-Art" editorial about how to agree to disagree over watching the U.S. Presidential debate. The piece was written by Hugh Fink, Scott Ganz, and Andrew Samson, who also scripted A Muppet Christmas: Letters to Santa. [1]

• November 17, 2011, Adam Sternbergh interviewed Bret McKenzie and Kermit the Frog about the music for The Muppets. The online version of the article was accompanied by a video of the two singing "Life's a Happy Song" less than perfectly to comic effect. [2]

• In the politic video "Illustrating the Tweets of the R.N.C.", Rick Berke had a conversation with illustrator Christoph Niemann during the "Republican National Convention 2012" in Tampa, Florida. One of the tweets in the video included the one from @Tyra_BangBang, who tweeted "ROMNEY WANTS TO GET RID OF SESAME STREET. he must be stopped." This was followed by a picture of Ernie (portrayed as a Republican elephant holding a knife) and Bert (portrayed as a Democratic donkey).
