This song was originally written for the movie Hans Christen Andersen. It was performed on Sesame Street once, and on The Muppet Show twice.
The first time it was sung on The Muppet Show was in episode 109, when Charles Aznavour sang it outside a schoolhouse. The silhouette of Zelda Rose and some children can be seen through the window of the schoolhouse.
It was sung again by Danny Kaye and the cast, with an inchworm backstage in episode 316.
