The Fugees is a music group, popular during the mid-1990s, whose repertoire includes primarily hip-hop, with elements of soul and Caribbean music (particularly dancehall reggae). The members of the group are leader/emcee/producer Wyclef Jean, emcee/singer Lauryn Hill, and emcee Pras Michel. The group recorded two albums before going their separate ways in 1997, then reuniting in 2005 to appear in Dave Chapelle’s Block Party.
The group recorded a version of the Sesame Street song "Just Happy to Be Me" for the Elmopalooza! TV special, which aired in 1998. The track also appears on the special's soundtrack CD.
Wyclef Jean has since appeared with the Muppets independently of The Fugees on several occasions.
