A dinosaurs TV pitch becomes The Flying Nun

The Flying Nun is a sitcom which ran on ABC from 1967 to 1970. It starred Sally Field as Sister Bertrille, a novice at a Puerto Rican convent who, when the wind is right, finds she can fly. It was one of the many wacky concept TV shows of the sixties, including Bewitched and My Mother the Car.

  • In the third season Dinosaurs episode "Network Genius," ABC executive Ted Hardshell tries to sell Earl Sinclair on a drama called A Question of Faith in which a sincere young female "searches for ultimate truth and spiritual fulfillment by joining a convent." Earl suggests that she could fly.
