The Fat Boys was a Brooklyn-based hip-hop music trio that emerged in the early 1980s. Member Darren “Buffy” Robinson, aka the Human Beat Box (1967–1995), was a pioneer in human beat boxing techniques. Member Mark Morales, aka Prince Markie Dee, produced R&B star Mary J. Blige’s earliest sessions.
At the peak of their popularity, the trio starred in their own film, Disorderlies. Released in 1987, the movie features a cameo by Helen Reddy. The group disbanded in 1991, but the surviving members reformed in 2008.
