The Dick Cavett Show was a late-night talk show hosted by Dick Cavett, which ran from 1969 to 1975. The Muppets appeared on the show at least twice.

Jim Henson, Frank Oz, Jerry Nelson, Caroll Spinney, Don Sahlin, and Kermit Love made an appearance promoting The Muppet Alphabet Album and The Frog Prince. Muppets appearing on the show (some seen with their performers, some not) include Kermit the Frog, Lothar, Cookie Monster, Big Bird (who at one point refers to Cavett as "Mr. Cabbage"), Thog, Ernie, Bert, Oscar the Grouch, Grover, Mahna Mahna, The Snowths, Yorick, Grump, Big V, The Southern Colonel, the Frackles, a Bossman, and Anything Muppets. Rowlf the Dog is mentioned as a guest during the opening titles, but is not featured anywhere in the episode. The Muppets perform some musical numbers (including "Three Little Fishies," "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face," "Mah Na Mah Na," "La, La, La," "Very, Very Special Letter," and "P Is My Favorite Letter") and some sketch routines (including "Visual Thinking" and "The Glow-Worm"). Jim also presents some clips from The Frog Prince, Sesame Street (specifically Number Three Ball Film, The King of Eight, and Eleven Cheer), Youth 68, and Time Piece.
The episode was re-run on November 17, 1972 and in 2017 on the Decades channel (editing most of the musical segments).

The Country Trio sing "Mama Don't Allow." Following the performance, Jim Henson, Frank Oz, and Jerry Nelson reveal themselves for a brief interview with Jim, Frank, and Jerry, respectively.
