Miss Piggy, the pigs, (and the bird) sing "The Bird on Nellie's Hat" for the UK spot in episode 304 of The Muppet Show. Miss Piggy portrays Nellie, and Dr. Julius Strangepork plays her servant. The bird on her hat sees all of her beaux, and knows when she lies to them. The pig who sings the ballad is played by Louise Gold.
This song was popularized in 1907 by vaudeville star Helen Trix. A recording of a barbershop arrangement of the tune had previously been used on Sam and Friends in 1955.[1]
