The Adventures of Bert and Ernie is a new series developed by Sesame Workshop in which clay animation versions of Bert and Ernie use their imaginations to travel to strange places and into entertaining situations. The series will not be available immediately in the United States but has been pre-sold to various overseas markets.
Each episode begins with the puppet versions of Bert and Ernie, looking at photographs and scrapbooks to bring back memories.[1] The article also states that the cast will include Ernie's Rubber Duckie and Bert's pet pigeon Bernice, as well as 'relatives we've never seen before' and furniture that changes shapes.
Two seasons of 26 five-minute episodes each are being produced. The first season is tentatively to debut in September 2008.[2]
The animation for the series will be produced by Italy's Misseri Studio.
Billy Aronson, co-writer of the video Bert & Ernie's Word Play, has scripted four segmentss: "Pirates," "Cavemen," "Scuba Divers" and "Bakers."[3]
