Talk:The Muppet Show Music Hall

Given that it's a 45RPM record and only features four tracks, I don't think it's appropriate to refer to this as an LP. EP (which stands for extended play) would have been the usual terminology at the time; is it possible to change the article title to reflect this? Or, alternatively, can someone demonstrate that it actually says LP on the cover? Gusworld 11:29, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

That's a good point. I think we used "LP" as the all-purpose word for a record album, as opposed to a CD. It's been a while since anybody's had to think about the difference between an LP and a 45! "EP" doesn't sound right to me -- I know we always used to call them 45s. Would "The Muppet Show Music Hall (45)" work? -- Danny Toughpigs 14:13, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
"The Muppet Show Music Hall (45)" would certainly be an improvement -- but part of me would argue that it would have been called an EP in the UK (which is where it originated, after all). A 45 implies a single (in my head, anyway), and this wasn't a single either. There's a neat Wikipedia discussion on the EP concept here [1]. Maybe the simplest solution is to drop the bracketed reference altogether, and just call it "The Muppet Show Music Hall". Gusworld 14:44, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
That's a good thought, and you made me realize that maybe we don't need those tags at all. I just posted on Current events about it -- if other people agree, then we can just take all of them off. -- Danny Toughpigs 15:03, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
