Talk:The Mickey Mouse Club

Merge

This still has the active talkbox, and I'm not really sure what we decided. Should I go ahead and merge with Mickey Mouse, or does it stay? Michael added a while paragraph, which I vaguely recall from some Jim Hill article or something, but it's unsourced right now, and while mildly interesting to read somewhere else, I'm not so sure it belongs on the Wiki outside of a one-line summary and link. Reference

Can we say anything else about The Mickey Mouse Club, or should this be a redirect to Mickey Mouse? -- Scott (talk) 14:30, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

There's potentially more to say about it. If somebody wanted, they could give a whole history of the show. I don't know if there are any connections that would be interesting to add. Keri Russell was on the new version, but that's not enough to justify a page. I don't really care either way. -- Danny (talk) 15:04, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
I added a brief history and the three connections I was sure of (including Russell). I seem to recall Edgar Bergen guest starring on the original version but can't confirm it right now. More could be added about the show's use of a child ensemble along with cartoons, live action films, and in the early seasons, puppet inserts as an early non-pedagogical Sesame Street influence (which is not too much of a stretch, though in general Captain Kangaroo and Laugh-In played a bigger role). Of course, it could still be merged with Mickey Mouse, and a more general connections list made (of which there's a lot more; Don Knotts guest hosting The Mouse Factory, Bergen, McCarthy, and Snered in Fun and Fancy Free, etc.) Andrew Leal (talk) 15:14, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
There's probably also some connections between House of Mouse and, say, Dog City or Muppet Babies. -- Danny (talk) 15:27, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
Not Dog City, since that used Canadian talent, but Muppet Babies definitely (Frank Welker, Russi Taylor, et.) and also the animated Fraggle Rock (Rob Paulsen as Panchito).... The more I think about it, while this is a slightly better page now, there's no reason it can't be merged to beef up Mickey. (I'm trying to remember the interview which had a comment about trying not to let Kermit be reduced to a symbol like the mouse). Andrew Leal (talk) 19:38, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
