Raw Data

Just putting this here as a reminder that The Dark Crystal videotape went through several logo changes, as Thorn/EMI became Thorn/EMI/HBO, HBO/Cannon, Cannon and various other combinations before it went out of print for a while, and then got reissued by Disney. So if anybody sees any of these variations, please put them here. --Ken (talk) 01:58, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Two questions

First, was the 2003 Superbit version really released by Disney? It has essentially the same cover art as the prior release from Columbia TriStar, and all future releases were by CTS as well.

Second, several of the early video releases list 1982 as their date. Since the movie came out in December of 1982 in theaters, wouldn't all initial video releases have to be in 1983 or beyond? -- TomH 12 17:44, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

The Disney thing is probably a mistake, but I don't know. --Minor muppetz 19:03, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
The Superbit info is an error. Superbit is a brand of Columbia DVD. I don't know about the 80s VHS. Without sources, those dates should be removed completely. —Scott (talk) 20:23, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Sourcing from the packaging alone is probably going to be difficult -- I just checked a bunch of random 80s VHS releases on my shelf (not DC), and pretty much all of them just list the original movie release date for copyright purposes. The phenomenon of a separate copyright date for artwork (which helps lock down the release date) didn't seem to emerge until the late 80s/early 90s. So presumably a print ad or review from the era would be required. Gusworld 11:36, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
