Yeah, that is rather weird. He is clearly blue in that Ed Sullivan clip, but he's referred to as purple in Hey Cinderella -- Jog 23:10, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

I think that the colour difference is just due to the studio lights. I really don't think that they reskinned this puppet, it would be very complicated to do and for no apparent reason? Wozza 20:26, March 9, 2010 (UTC)

Hand Puppet?Edit

I don't know why Splurge's appearance on Sesame Street is described as a hand puppet. This seems to be a full-bodied Muppet to me. --Dave Splurge 02:50, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

It looks just like a large hand puppet to me, with no feet shown. See also Behemoth. Plus, it's clearly distinct from the other version, so it would make more sens, to me anyway, for there to be a smaller (comparatively) version for use behind the Sesame Street set. It would help if someone who has the actual clip for that sketch could weigh in, since one can only assume so much from the still image, but it's clearly a different puppet from the other version. -- Andrew Leal (talk) 03:03, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Oh, when you describe Behemoth, now I see where you're coming from. Personally, I still see this Splurge appearance as roughly the same size as he's seen in Hey Cinderella, etc; a full-bodied costume. But clearly, other people see it differently than I do.

Sesamestreet.org recently uploaded a high quality version: (SSvideo) It looks like the full-body version to me. Plus, there's some visible patches where the original eyes were. -- MuppetDude 16:26, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Good find, Tony. It does appear to be a different version from the Sullivan puppet at least (we probably need a good Hey, Cinderella! screengrab at some point) but now with a clearer picture and a clip, it does look more like someone in a suit just walking towards the wall.
