What is the plural of snuffleupagus? Snuffleupagi, snuffelupaguses, snuffelupagui, snuffleupagus, snuffleupagusss …? I used Snuggleupagi, but have no clue if that's correct. Any thoughts? -- Brad D. (talk) 16:36, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

I think Snuffleupagi works for now, until we find an official spelling. Wonderful anthropological and zoological explorations, Brad! Andrew Leal (talk) 16:46, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
I suspect there's a source for "Snuffleupaguses" somewhere. "Snuffleupagi" is more correct, of course, if you live in ancient Rome, but it doesn't sound like something Luis and Maria might say. -- Danny (talk) 17:15, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, here we go.
From a Sesame Street Beat newsletter in 1999: "They say, "art imitates life." Believe it or not, this is true for Sesame Street. Unless you live in Manhattan's Greenwich Village, you're probably wondering exactly what part of your comparatively normal life has anything to do with the unique Muppet universe filled with furry monsters, snuffleupaguses, and eight-foot-tall talking birds."
Also, the lyrics to "The Snuffleupagus Polka": "There's a nifty little dance that Snuffleupaguses do. You may think it's not for you; that simply isn't true." -- Danny (talk) 17:21, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
I would support Snuffleupaguses, given that even "octopi" and "cacti" appear to be becoming deprecated lately. However, I question why we use plurals for "species" articles (e.g., Fraggles) anyway. =) LtPowers 17:51, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
Those are good sources. I'll update the article to "Snuffleupaguses" from "Snuffleupagi". -- Brad D. (talk) 17:56, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
Also, to answer LtPowers' question (what's your name, by the way?) -- Using a plural helps to mark the article as being about a species or character type, rather than just one character. It makes the distinction between an article about a character named Dog and an article about Dogs as a group. -- Danny (talk) 18:00, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
