Sign Song
Does anybody own this album? I'm curious if it lists author info. There is a "Sign Song" written by Clark Gesner for The Electric Company and owned by Sesame Street Inc. listed in ASCAP, but it's unusual for the music to get borrowed across shows like that.... unfortunately many of the songs on these older albums have either a different legal title or are no longer in the online databases, so it's very plausibly a song with the same title by somebody else. -- Wendy (talk) 18:43, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
- Hey, Wendy! I can finally answer this, since I got the 3-LP set. Yes, this is the Sign Song from the Electric Company, but some of the words are different on this album, which was very strange for me to hear. I'm going over to its song page to see how it's written up. Hope this helps! -- Ken (talk) 03:12, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- Well, I can't really type out the words, but it was just that some of the words are different. For example, the EC version was "Towaway Zone", and the SS version was "Hospital Zone", and EC was "Gas", and SS was "School". Now that you mention it, I might sit down this weekend, and see exactly what was changed. I guess we'll never know why! By the way, are there two entries in ASCAP? I've always wondered how they handled that when a song got rewritten years later. I know that the guy who wrote "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" rewrote it years later with more overtly religious lyrics. I'll have to see if he had to copyright the new version separately. Man, this is fun! -- Ken (talk) 04:45, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
