Visitors! Edit

Oscar the Grouch (along with Caroll Spinney), and some other characters from American Sesame Street will be visiting Sesame Tree at the end of July. I spoke with Spinney, and he said the producers originally wanted him to play Big Bird on the show, but the cost to bring the giant puppet from Queens, NY to Ireland would be thousands of dollars, and Oscar just fits in the over-head bins, so why not Oscar? -Hairsprayman111 22:06, July 6, 2010 (UTC)

Editor wrote dissertation on the showEdit

Hi all,

I was the Sesame Tree series editor. I also wrote an MA dissertation on Sesame Tree, which you could interesting... http://www.scribd.com/doc/30750963/Sesame-Tree-‘Glocalisation’-and-Reconciliation-Northern-Ireland-according-to-Sesame-Street-and-Children’s-Television-in-Commercial-Hegemony

It's quite a heavy academic piece of writing, but you might find it useful.

Best regards,

Wow! This is awesome, Wai-Lun! I'm definitely going to take a gander at this. (I've read one sentence, and already I learned something: "Sesame Street is a paradigm of demographically malleable polysemy". Who knew?) In all seriousness, this looks like it'll be an interesting look at the production. -- Zanimum 21:31, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
-- Heh! Was trying to be succinct :D I did warn it was very academic! Good bedtime reading :) --
-- Ok guys, sorry but 'business is business' as the saying goes, and I've had to pull the thesis for the time being. This is all I can say:
Unfortunately, a request has been made for this work to be taken offline for the time being because names and locations of contributors are mentioned in the document. These details are also revealed in the programmes themselves, which is makes it odd why anyone should have any objections for any of the information to be reiterated in print, when it can be seen and heard in the programmes. Nevertheless, this document will be made private for the time being, pending consultation. A censored version may eventually be produced if required. In the meantime, should your research require, the thesis is available from the University of Ulster library on request.

PuppeteersEdit

We got a list of puppeteers on the show from this October 2007 article in The Belfast Telegraph -- Lesa Gillespie, Paul Currie, Michael McNulty, Mike Smith and Helen Sloan.

Today, User:Paulcurrie edited the page, added Alana Kerr to the list, and took out Mike Smith.

We have performers adding to pages every once in a while, so I'm assuming that User:Paulcurrie actually is Paul Currie -- and therefore he would know who's worked on the show. We've also had User:Paul currie on the wiki... I guess he forgot his login name. :)

Kerr's involvement is backed up by this article, also from the Telegraph, from April 2008.

I can't find a full cast list, so I'm taking Smith out on the assumption that Paul Currie edited the page.

Anybody have a comment? -- Danny@Wikia (talk) 22:39, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, that's a fair assumption. The October 2007 article was the initial announcement of the audition results before they'd even designed and built the Muppets and decided who would play who, so it's probable that for whatever reason he left/was dropped before full production. -- Andrew Leal (talk) 22:44, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
