Interesting Pointless Fact
Edit
Mark Twain owned a home in Elmira, NY, and lived there for much of his life (his wife's family originated there). Joan Ganz Cooney's grandfather was a prisoner in an Elmira, NY prison during the Civil War, as brought out in the book Street Gang...
Anyway, I'm sure it's a pointless little factoid, but just in case it's somehow a relevant connection to add to the wiki, thought I'd bring it up. --Justin 06:10, January 24, 2010 (UTC)
- Maybe somebody can find out if Joan Ganz Cooney's grandfather knew or met Mark Twain. -- Ken (talk) 06:20, January 24, 2010 (UTC)
- That would be interesting, but I don't know if Mark Twain would have been around Elmira during the Civil War. Maybe. I read his autobiography, but I don't really remember the details of what he did during the war. --Justin 14:18, January 24, 2010 (UTC)
- Right before the war, Twain was still a river pilot. The next thing after the Civil War broke out, he began moving west. So I doubt he was anywhere near. (Just reading some more, he was in Elmira circa 1870.) -- Zanimum 16:01, January 25, 2010 (UTC)
