Talk: I Get a Kick Out of You

As I was writing this article, I was wondering: was there a song on Sesame Street called I Get a Kick Out of U? I am thinking that there is, but I'm not really sure, and I would like to mention this parody in this article if there was such a parody. --Minor muppetz 00:15, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

You are correct, sir! "I Get a Kick Out of U" was a segment which I think first aired sometime in the early 90s, whenever Louise Gold's stint on Sesame Street was. It was sung by Gold as Ethel Mermaid, an obvious Ethel Merman take-off, and also featured a shark (the same one from the famous Ernie and Bert fishing sketch and other appearances), played by Kevin Clash. --Andrew, Aleal 00:20, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

I wonder whether it would be worth mentioned that Gold also recorded the song properly as Reno Sweeney on a studio cast album recording of Anything Goes, or is that irrelavent? Emma 09:34, 3 September 2006 (UTC)Emma

Yeah, it's not really relevant to the song page, and Gold's portrayal of Reno is already noted on Ethel Mermaid.
