Talk:Holiday Huggable Muppet Babies

I did some checking, and only the 1998 Fast Food book claimed these toys were "Muppet Christmas Carol" related, which seems to be an error. The original commercial can be seen as the second spot here (YouTube), and the announcer calls them "Holiday Huggable Muppet Babies," which seems like much better evidence than what the authors of a price guide ten years later chose to label the toys. -- Andrew Leal (talk) 23:24, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- I contributed to a couple of the Fast Food price guides, and you are correct in not taking them as credible sources for titles. Often times they would just label a promotion with something semi relevant. I didn't notice these were listed as Happy Meal toys, or I would have changed it immediately. I think what the authors are making reference too are the Charles Dickens version of A Christmas Carol, not the film The Muppet Christmas Carol (if that is what you were thinking). I will see what references books I have at home tonight and see if there is anything about them. I know that a second set has begun to pop up as well. They are very similar, but very different at the same time. I've located a Fozzie and Kermit, and seen a picture of the Gonzo. I am trying to figure out if they are protypes or a second set that was released at a later date (or as a test market, since i've got a couple of the kermits and fozzies). But I digress. -- Nate (talk) 00:18, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
- That's what we had assumed, re Dickens, not the later movie, but the evidence isn't there in either the toys themselves or the commercial, so I just made it a brief note. Any info on a second or proto-set would be interesting. -- Andrew Leal (talk) 00:24, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
- All my fast food books were stolen by my parents. I'll see if I can get them to bring them up at Easter, along with a bunch of other stuff...sigh. Anyway, I uploaded the Baby Gonzo, and will get the Fozzie and Kermit up as soon as I can get around to uploading them from the camera. Maybe pictures of them will shed some light on the mystery. == Nate (talk) 16:17, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
