Do we need it?

Do we have a guideline about making pages for random Anything Muppet characters? I feel like we should probably only do it if they have names. Is that our rule? -- Danny@Wikia (talk) 23:55, November 12, 2010 (UTC)

Not to mention, how do we know he was performed by Jerry Nelson? Garrettk41 00:02, November 13, 2010 (UTC)
Source: Sesame Street Encyclopedia - Harvey's Friend. Harvey's friend's Sesame Street Encyclopedia entry claimed he was performed by Jerry Nelson because Jerry Nelson performed many Muppet characters during his time (he provides the voices of Count von Count, Robin the Frog, Floyd Pepper, Gobo Fraggle, Lew Zealand, Camilla the Chicken, Herry Monster, Little Jerry, Mr. Johnson, Beard, Ernie in the Sesame Street appearance of Peter Alexander präsentiert Spezialitäten in 1975 and so on...). -- Max (talk) 00:04, November 13, 2010 (UTC)
Sesame Street Encyclopedia contained a fair set of errors (and the bit about Ernie on the German special makes no sense as a source, Max). I agree with Danny that a lot of the random one-shot AM pages have been getting out of hand lately (basically summarizing a one-shot sketch, so anything can be noted in the table on the episode guide). Danny, we have discussed this before often (as far back as Talk:Grenadier Guardsman). We came closer to an official rule in 2008 at Talk:Fat Blue. Here's what Danny said, and I agree with: "I think any character with a name is worth making a page for. If they have a job and not a name, like the carnival barker or the lost and found clerk, then I don't think they need a page -- unless there's something particularly interesting to say about them." And the same applies to "So and so's friend" (the obvious exception we usually make is for, say, one-shot parents of major characters, since obviously Cookie Monster's Pop is worth documenting, and anyway he's not an AM). -- Andrew Leal (talk) 21:15, December 13, 2010 (UTC)
I added a note to the Policies and Guidelines page to that effect. (Please feel free to expand or modify the policy note.) I highlighted what I think is the most important part of the Notability section -- ideally, a click should give you more information than you had before you clicked. We bend this rule a lot when a character has a name -- for example, we've got Marty Table and Sarah Chair, and we probably shouldn't -- but there's no reason to keep a character like this that doesn't have a name. I'm gonna delete. -- Danny@Wikia (talk) 22:00, December 13, 2010 (UTC)
