A Cappella
Edit
Hey guys. All this literally just came up today. I just got a comment on my Get Along video, identifying the a capella vocalists as an NYC group called The Lemmings, the same group who also sang in this aptly named segment. The user who posted the comment also uploaded two versions of the "40 Lemmings", including an trippy clay-animated version that went unaired.
My question is, should this group be noted? I'm aware that YouTube comments are usually passed over, but the info seems pretty legit as far as I know. Other than this, I have found a small circle of information on this group and an even smaller circle of their SS work. It's there though, if you Google "The Lemmings A Capella Sesame Street". But like I said, it ain't that much. Thoughts? -- Jon (talk) 10:02, February 5, 2011 (UTC)
- I was initially unsure myself. For one thing, I checked the "40 Lemmings" notes which claim James Earl Jones is the voice saying "30," and that's provably false. So that made me a bit reluctant to trust this one YouTube user's identification. So I did some looking around and found something which makes for better direct sourcing, a LinkedIn profile of a former group member, Mark Palermo, which does indeed mention "Get Along" specifically. It also gave me a better lead for googling for further details later on, that the Lemmings are or were (it's not clear if they're still around) a sort of "alumni group" of Bruce Leddy's Williams Octet. It seems this same Bruce Leddy directed CinderElmo. So With the LinkedIn as a source, I'd be fine with mentioning it on this page (and wait to create a group page until we can clear up some other issues; maybe someone here registered on LinkedIn can contact Mr. Palermo to ask him about other Lemmings recorded bits, but it's also possible that if they did, as seems likely, the 40 Lemmings bit, that the group composition had changed by then). -- Andrew Leal (talk) 09:07, February 21, 2011 (UTC)
