Talk:Gary
From Muppet Wiki
Are we sure he's a Dimorphodon? I haven't seen the episode, but I know a Dimorphodon is a teeny tiny pterosaur. GrantHarding 02:40, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
- According to Henson.com's old episode guide and the other official show listing episode summaries: "...Earl is challenged to fight to the death by Gary, a 50' Dimorphodon who took a fancy to Fran... " (you can check here, just scroll down a little to High Noon(D305)). -- BradFraggle 05:16, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
- Let's face it, a series where a Tyrranosaurus rex is dwarfed by a triceratops, and where dinosaurs not only co-exist with cavemen but are at best a few inches taller than them, is not striving for complete paleontological accuracy. Andrew, Aleal 06:26, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, that would make for a funny page -- a list of the paleontology facts that Dinosaurs deliberately ignored. -- Danny Toughpigs 06:30, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
- Well no, I know. My point is not that Dimorphodon is tiny, but rather that it's a pterosaur (flying reptile). I'm not sure that's what Gary was. But as I say, I haven't seen the episode. (Also, I think Richfield is supposed to be a Styracosaurus. Just FYI.) :P GrantHarding 06:35, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
- Don't stick your smiley tongue out at me, young man! In Episode 216: The Clip Show, no less an authority than Sir David Tushingham proclaims Richfield to be a triceratops! Which doesn't mean he's an *accurate* representation of a triceratops, but that's what the show claims he is. Seriously, I agree with Danny, though, that would make for an interesting page, and it's nice to have someone with serious knowledge about the subject with us (maybe when time allows or you get a chance to rewatch some episodes, you could help us more precisely define some of the folks on the Unisaurs page). - Also, as for Gary's species, beyond what the show calls him and his general height, we really have nothing to go on. He's not winged, certainly, but all we're shown are giant feet and a bit of eye and teeth. He's left more or less deliberately obscured (which no doubt helped with the budget as well)! And Earl doesn't look much like a real megalosaurus either. Aleal 06:47, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
- I stand corrected on the Richfield issue. As for Gary, I think we're going around in circles at this point. Kermit doesn't look anything like a frog either. I guess what I'm trying to say is, "Whatever." GrantHarding 06:50, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
- That's "Whateverosaurus" to you. -- Danny Toughpigs 23:18, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
