I think I sense a reference here[]
So this grouch's name is Ernest, his brother's name Oscar. Anyone get the connection? If I'm not mistaken, this is a reference to the play "The Importance of Being Ernest" by Oscar Wilde. It seems to me that Sesame Street sometimes did that, featuring a grouch with a name that had previously gone with Oscar in another manner. I could be wrong, but I highly doubt it was just a coincidence that the names Oscar and Ernest were thrown together a second time. Garrettk41 20:11, April 8, 2012 (UTC)
- I think you're on to something there. We should certainly make a note of it without definitively saying that it's a references unless we have a source. βScott (message me) 21:25, April 8, 2012 (UTC)
