Food Chain Song
Edit
The opening number is often referred to as "The Food Chain Song". Does anybody happen to know whetehr this is the official title, or if it's just what Kermit the Frog referred to it as? I watched this on you tube, and judging by the lyrics it sounds like the title might be "(Gimmie Gimme) Taste For Your Love". I don't know whether this song (or the closing number) was written especially for the show or not, and I couldn't find any pages on the unreliable Wikipedia, but does anybody happen to know the official title (I might do some searchign on iTunes and listen to sample audio)? --Minor muppetz 17:38, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- We don't go by lyrics, and if we can't find the registered title (songwriters Phil Balsam and Dennis Lee are only listed for "Jim Henson Hour Cues," encompassing all original songs but with no specific names mentioned), we go by what a character refers to the song as, same as we do with character names and sketches. That's a better approach than going by a repeated chorus (instances where we have done so have been because we have absolutely nothing else to go on, and they're usually renamed when we do find a solid source), so in thise case, Kermit announcing "Ladies and gentlemen, 'The Food Chain Song'" is the best source we have. Registered titles trump everything else, but lacking that, who are we to question Kermit the Frog, after all? -- Andrew Leal (talk) 21:04, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
